The Phi Alpha Theta, Lambda Xi chapter at University of Wisconsin-Madison serves as the primary history student organization for UW-Madison undergraduates. We encourage participation by students interested in history with all levels of experience.
Our Mission:
“We are a professional society whose mission is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians. We seek to bring students and teachers together for intellectual and social exchanges, which promote and assist historical research and publication by our members in a variety of ways.”
We host study nights, the annual Induction Ceremony, seasonal parties, guest lectures, historical tours, career panel discussions with UW-Madison alumni, and various types of social outings to bring together history majors across campus with the goal of further expanding the role history majors play in the community of UW-Madison.
Phi Alpha Theta also hosts essay writing competitions and scholarship opportunities! For more information, please visit the national PAT website.
