Comprised primarily, but not exclusively, of history majors, Phi Alpha Theta is led by its student officers. A student from the organization is also selected to serve as a representative of the student body on the History Undergraduate Council each semester.
Executive Board, 2022-2023
- Nadya Hayasi (she/her) is the Phi Alpha Theta President for the 2022-2023 academic year. She is a junior studying History and Political Science with certificates in Southeast Asian Studies and Public Policy. She is particularly interested in the study of colonialism and the proliferation of imperial power in Southeast Asia in the 20th and 21st century. Outside of school, she spends most of her time with her friends, napping, watching true crime documentaries, and playing the crossword.
- Connor Black (he/him) is the Phi Alpha Theta Vice President. He is a senior at UW- Madison double majoring in History and Economics. His passions for history have led him to focus on the United States’ imperial past, and its ramifications in today’s world. When Connor isn’t in the classroom, you can find him outside kayaking or out on the town with friends.
- Rae Kalscheuer (they/them) is a junior and Phi Alpha Theta’s Historian/Secretary. They are a History and English double major. Their historical interests are rooted in the resistance of oppressed groups and international conflict. When they aren’t studying or working in the history department office, they enjoy hanging out with their cats and friends, reading, crafting, and spending way too much time online.
- Logan Jurnak (he/him) is the Phi Alpha Theta Marketing Chair. He is a senior at UW-Madison majoring in History, Legal Studies, and Political Science. He’s most drawn to French and European legal and revolutionary histories. Outside of pursuing his studies, Logan loves skiing, traveling, spending time with people he loves, and staying hydrated.
