Comprised primarily, but not exclusively, of history majors, Phi Alpha Theta is led by its student officers. A student from the organization is also selected to serve as a representative of the student body on the History Undergraduate Council each semester.
Executive Board, 2023-2024
Rae Kalscheuer (they/them) is the Phi Alpha Theta President for the 2023-2024 academic year. They are an English and History double major with a certificate in Gender and Women’s Studies whose interests are histories of empire, oppression, and resistance across the globe. When they aren’t working as a Mosse Peer Advisor or doing things for PAT, they love reading classics, hanging out with their cat, and spending quality time with their friends.
Chloe Foor (she/her) is the Phi Alpha Theta Vice President this year. She is a senior majoring in History, Computer Science, and Information Science, and she hopes to pursue a career in digital history, using modern technology to add new layers to historical research, as well as helping make history more accessible. In addition to this, her historical interests center on colonial Latin America, specifically analyzed through lenses of gender, religion, and caste. In her free time, she enjoys shopping for records, reading fantasy books, exploring Madison with friends, and playing euchre.
Rose Weithaus (she/her) is the Phi Alpha Theta Finance Chair this year. She is a senior studying Political Science and History with a certificate in Public Policy. Her long-term career goal is to become an attorney, but she has also enjoyed working in government with the Wisconsin Department of Justice, in the archives as a Mosse intern, and with the Center for Leadership and Involvement in the Red Gym. Her research interests include WWII, the Cold War, and the Renaissance, specifically in Italy. In her free time, she enjoys trying new restaurants, grabbing coffee with friends, cooking, and scrapbooking.
Lauren Boray (she/her) is the Phi Alpha Theta Secretary and Historian for the 2023-24 school year. She is a senior majoring in history and legal studies with a certificate in French with the dream of working with museums to educate people about the importance of history. While she is interested in any area of history, her primary areas of study are World War II, early modern France, Victorian-era England, and the Gilded Age in America. When she’s not reading for class and fun, Lauren enjoys running, baking, and playing Stardew Valley.
Bea Millan-Windorski is the Phi Alpha Theta Events and Professional Coordinator for the 2023-24 school year. She is a senior majoring in History and International Studies: Global Security with certificates in Southeast Asian Studies and Political Science. She is currently working on her senior thesis about the use of Filipino labor in the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard in the Cold War era. She hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in Southeast Asian Studies and go into academia. Bea enjoys playing cello, practicing Filipino language, and cooking for her friends.
Kie Forss (they/them) is the Phi Alpha Theta Marketing Chair for the 2023-24 school year. They are a senior majoring in History and English, with a certificate in Digital Studies. Kie hopes to be an archivist or History professor and spends a lot of time in different archives around campus, either working or researching for their senior thesis. Their historical research centers around mass communication in the Second World War and Vietnam War. Outside of history, they enjoy reading, fashion, and playing the Sims 4.
