Undergraduate Program

Through September 2021, all Undergraduate History Advising will be done through remote appointments.  History majors, certificate students, and prospective students can set up appointments through the History Starfish page or by emailing Scott Burkhardt or Christina Matta directly.  Students wishing to declare the History Certificate should use Starfish to set up an appointment with one of our peer advisors, Isabelle Cook or Jack Halverson.

Welcome to the study of history at UW-Madison! To study history is to study change, and our program combines rigorous intellectual and professional training to empower students to seek out and examine connections between the past and the present. The undergraduate program offers both the History Major and the Certificate in History as pathways for students to engage deeply and develop their interests in the subject of history. Our department cares about undergraduate teaching, and is full of outstanding educators ready to help students develop their skills and knowledge.
