Biography

My research interests focus on the military history of colonial America and the early Republic. I am particularly interested in the development of early American military institutions and the relationship of these forces to the societies they were raised to defend. I am also intrigued by the adaptation of eighteenth-century European military thought and practice to warfare in North America.
