Biography
My work explores carcerality in 20th century America as it was made, manifested, and endured in prisons and prison towns. Currently, my work looks at the Wisconsin State Prison, now called the Waupun Correctional Institution, and the men incarcerated within it to understand how individuals existed in and even potentially understood themselves as belonging to the penal institution, revealing how carcerality fundamentally altered the ways individuals lived, communicated, and connected. I am largely interested in exploring themes of belonging, citizenship, and visibility.
