Louise Young Receives WARF Named Professorship

Louise Young, the Marilyn B. Young Professor of History at UW–Madison, has been honored with a 2025-26 WARF (Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation) Named Professorship, a prestigious award that recognizes faculty who have made major contributions to the advancement of knowledge through research, teaching, and service. Professor Young, a historian of modern Japan, has previously led the Center for East Asian Studies and has received numerous fellowships, including from the NEH, SSRC, and Fulbright Program, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. The WARF Named Professorship, which includes $100,000 to support her research, celebrates her sustained scholarly impact and leadership in the field.
