On Friday, May 12 the Department of History celebrated undergraduate commencement with a recognition ceremony and reception at the Wisconsin Historical Society. Professor Mary Lou Roberts was selected by the graduating cohort of History majors to deliver the commencement address, and gave an inspiring and heartfelt speech to mark the transition of students to alumni. Professor Gloria Whiting recognized the graduates by name as they walked in front of the stage to receive a commemorative certificate from Professor Daniel Stolz and Undergraduate Advisor Scott Burkhardt. The event was followed by a reception where students gathered with their invited guests and family as well as faculty and staff to celebrate the successful completion of their History degree at UW-Madison.
The Department of History is pleased to celebrate approximately 160 History majors and 65 History certificate students that will receive their degrees from UW-Madison this academic year. We trust that the study of History will lead to a lifetime of innovation, creativity, leadership, and accomplishment. Thank you for giving us the privilege of helping you on your educational journey, and congratulations!
