Professor Emeritus John Sharpless Featured in Article Discussing His Teaching

John SharplessRecently retired, Professor Emeritus John Sharpless was featured in an article from the Isthmus, discussing his time teaching at UW-Madison. “’I think it’s more about how I treated students generally,’ says Sharpless, 73, who gave his final lecture on December 11, 2018. ‘I treated them as adults whose opinions should be respected and I was always truly interested in what each person had to say. I still am.’”

There will be an event for Professor Sharpless on Tuesday, March 26th at 4:30pm in the Fluno Center. The event, sponsored by UW’s Center for the Study of Liberal Democracy and the History Department, will honor the recently retired professor, his teachings, and his leadership. Appetizers and refreshments will be available throughout the night, and the event is open to the public.
