Event Poster“How History Keeps Us Racist – And What To Do About It.”

James W. Loewen,
author of the bestseller
Lies My Teacher Told Me

Monday, October 24, 2016
4:30-6:30 PM
Fluno Center, Howard Auditorium

From Vasco da Gama to George W. Bush, what US history textbooks tell — and what they leave out — amount to “white history,” not just “history.” James Loewen will show that an entire era has pretty much been omitted, an era that has left two important legacies to us today, perhaps especially in Wisconsin. He will also suggest what audiences can do about these legacies.

Reception to follow in the Atrium

Sponsored by the Department of Sociology in conjunction with The Secretary of the Faculty and The School of Education
