Miles Gerstein

Miles Gerstein (‘70) is the founder and owner of Uppercut Images, a stock photography agency specializing in the production of creative imagery for use in advertising and design. Over the course of his career, he has created four companies in the media space, including Artville and Punchstock which he sold to Eastman Kodak and Getty Images respectively. Prior to venturing out on his own, Miles worked for AT&T in a sales and marketing capacity, in New York and Madison, Wisconsin for ten years. He was a Board Member of the Wisconsin History Association and the Madison Repertory Theater. Miles graduated from Wisconsin with a BA in history and credits his senior thesis advisor, Professor Edward T Gargan with exposing him to the nuances and vagaries of the historical process and the grammar of historical inquiry for which he is forever grateful. He also earned an MA in Comparative History from Brandeis University and a MBA from Baruch College. He currently lives in New York City, with his wife Susan E Davis, BA/MA/Ph.D, UW-Madison.
