Biography
Current
I lead and manage the Karpat Center, web presence, unit budget, academic events, programs, projects, grants and scholarships related to Turkish Studies; collaborate with UW units and promote the growth of Turkish Studies and Turkish Language on UW Campus and student developmental goals. I also manage all operations of the academic, peer-reviewed journal International Journal of Turkish Studies and publishes.
I taught Central Asian History courses at the UW and lectured on Central Asia and Turkey at various conferences and universities; worked at Turkish Historical Society in Ankara, Turkey.
Education
MA and PhD in History with a PhD minor in Political Science and an MLA in Library of Science from UW–Madison; BA in Russian Language and Literature from Faculty of Language, History and Geography at Ankara University, in Ankara, Turkey, with a minor in French.

This is the first attempt to present a comprehensive picture of immigration to the United States from the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Turkey, consisting of historical overviews, case studies of recent Turkish immigrants’ adaptation to contemporary American life and their attitudes towards Islam, and essays on sources.
