Alumna Debbie Sharnak Receives Teaching Award from Harvard

Debbie SharnakAlumna Debbie Sharnak (Ph.D. 2017), currently a Lecturer on History and Literature at Harvard University, has recently won Harvard’s 2019 Stephen Botein Prize for Excellence in Teaching! Sharnak’s research and teaching cover topics such as the history of human rights, transnational networks, Latin America, and international relations. Before starting her position at Harvard, Sharnak worked for the International Center for Transnational Justice, Freedom House, and the Centro Nacional de Memoria Histórica in Colombia, and also held teaching positions at New York University, Hunter College, and St. Francis College. In the fall, Sharnak will be starting a new position as Assistant Professor at Rowan University. During her time in our program, Sharnak was advised by Professors Steve Stern and Jennifer Ratner-Rosenhagen.
