Robert Siegfried, professor emeritus of the History of Science department and its first Ph.D. awardee, passed away on September 2, 2014. Siegfried taught in the department for many years after completing his doctorate in 1952 titled “A Study of Chemical Research Publications from the United States before 1880” under Robert Stauffer.
