Congratulations to Bill Reese, who recently learned that his book Testing Wars in the Public Schools: A Forgotten History (Harvard, 2013) is this year’s winner of the annual book award from the History of Education Society. Reese also won the 2014 O.L.Davis, Jr. book prize from the American Association for Teaching and Curriculum. These prestigious prizes follow on news from late summer of a $451,000 grant from the Spencer Foundation for Bill’s next project on the history of the Washington DC public schools.
