Melissa Charenko’s short film, 24-7B, will premiere on Friday, November 1, 2013, the opening night of the 2013 Tales From Planet Earth biennial film festival. Charenko, a history of science graduate student, produced this three minute film as part of a collaborative class on environmental filmmaking co-taught this semester by UW History of Science professor Gregg Mitman and visiting Interdisciplinary Artist-in-Residence Alex Rivera. Taking up the festival’s overall theme of “Futures,” her story imagines a future where it is a crime to take a sip of water from a river in a national park.
