I am a student of Latin American history with a focus on 20th century revolutionary movements in Cuba and Mexico. My MA thesis explored the role of Afro-Cubans in the 1961 Cuban literacy Campaign and how Cubans circulated revolutionary nationalism at the local and barrio level. I am also interested in the migration of Yucatec indigenous Mexicans to Cuba during the 19th century and how they became integrated into Cuban society throughout the 20th century.

Interests: revolution, film, and African inspirations in Cuba.
