Professors Stephen Kantrowitz, Sasha Suarez, and Matt Villeneuve speak to their areas of expertise within Indigenous history and connect their work to ongoing legacies. All three professors teach courses at UW-Madison relating to Indigenous history, but their research areas vary widely — from Native history in the Civil War and Reconstruction period,to gender and place-making in urban settings, to the federal boarding system. The talk will expand to more broadly understand the impact of these histories on our lived present.
