As many of you know, the IHG is an informal, interdisciplinary working group for faculty, staff, and graduate students interested in intellectual history and the history of ideas. Our aim is to investigate the various methods, themes, and theories connected to these fields as well as their relevance to different disciplines. Participants in the group come from a wide variety of disciplines, including history, philosophy, literature, history of science, political science, anthropology, and educational policy studies.
We meet approximately once a month to discuss a work that speaks to the concerns of intellectual history broadly conceived. Each meeting takes one of several forms. The group functions both as a colloquium to workshop the works of members and as a reading group to explore recent trends in fields relevant to intellectual history. We also work to bring in scholars from across the country to speak to the IHG.
Please mark your calendars for the following dates and times:
- Tuesday, 26 September, 4:00 PM till 5:30 PM
- Thursday, 5 October, 4:00 PM till 5:30 PM (This is a special round table event; space is limited and RSVP is required.)
