History Major Graduation Ceremony
May 11 @ 3:15 pm - 5:00 pm
Department of History Graduation & Awards Recognition Celebration and Reception
Friday, May 11, 2018
3:15 – 5:00 PM
Wisconsin Historical Society Auditorium
816 State St.
The History Graduate Recognition and Awards Ceremony will begin at 3:15 on Friday, May 11th in the Wisconsin Historical Society auditorium, which is on the first floor of the building in the center. Students and their guests should arrive at least 10-15 minutes before then, if possible, so that we can check you in and begin the ceremony on time. We will recognize our prize and award winners first, have a commencement address by Professor Nan Enstad, and then recognize each of the graduates who are present at the ceremony. We will ask each graduate to come to the front of the auditorium to receive a certificate of completion of studies. (It’s not an official diploma from UW-Madison, but it is written in Latin!) We expect the ceremony will last 30-45 minutes; afterwards, we will have a catered reception in the lobby of the Historical Society.
Please do not wear your academic attire (cap and gowns) to this ceremony – save that for Saturday at Camp Randall. There is no dress code for our event, but we would recommend something slightly more formal than what you wear on an average day (business casual, or something along those lines). Parking will be difficult by mid-afternoon, so make sure that your guests give themselves plenty of time to park and walk to the WHS.
