This round-table will tackle a number of pressing question facing researchers and instructors today. What role does the historian play in the age of fake news? How does the historian teach undergraduates who might subscribe to “alternative” versions of history? Does social media have a place in the historian’s work? How does the historian engage insidious lies about slavery and the Holocaust? Is it even worth her time? How does the historian respond to attacks on higher learning? Can the historian reach the public? Do times of crisis call for the historian’s activism?
