The fifth annual Jan Vansina Lecture will be delivered by Kathryn de Luna, a Provost’s Distinguished Associate Professor at Georgetown University. She is an Africanist historian by degree and a linguist and archeologist by courtesy, collaboration, and curiosity. Her research and teaching focus on histories of the environment, emotions, and senses in central Africa and the broader Atlantic as well as the methods and archives through which we access such stories
