Online Data
Bureau of Labor Statistics Well organized, searchable data, including historical time-series.
FRASER -- Federal Reserve Archival System for Economic Research New project of the Research Division of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis -- consists of links to scanned images (in Adobe® Acrobat® PDF format) of historical economic statistical publications, releases, and documents.  Included is the Fed's 1959 publication, All-Bank Statistics, 1896-1955, which compiled statistics not only on nationally and state chartered banks but mutual savings banks and, for the first time, unincorporated or private banks.
FRED -- Federal Reserve Economic Data From the Research Division of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, a database of 3,000 U.S. economic time series that can be downloaded.  New addition:  ALFRED -- ArchivaL Federal Reserve Economic Data, which furnishes vintage versions of data available on specific dates in history (currently back to Dec. 12, 1996).
